Marton Balla (2012) - Eckerd College Athletics Hall of Fame

Eckerd College Athletics Hall of Fame

Balla was a member of Eckerd’s men's tennis program from 1999-2003.
He was part of the SSC Silver Anniversary Team (Top 13 singles players). In the 2000-01 season he was an ITA All-American and a First Team All-SSC selection in singles.
In 2001-02, he made All-SSC Honorable Mention with an 11-8 overall record. Balla made it to the 2002-03 All-SSC Second Team in singles with a 9-5 overall record while playing the No. 1 slot.
In his senior year, he made the All-SSC Honorable Mention team in doubles.
During his time at Eckerd, the Tritons were ranked No. 16. They advanced to the final eight of the 2000-01 NCAA Championship before falling in the quarterfinals to BYU-Hawaii.
Balla was ranked as high as No. 7 nationally in singles.
Balla worked for Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida where he worked with WTA and ATP players.
He then spent a few years in India with his wife before moving to Boston where their daughter was born.
Marton is currently working as a tennis professional at Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center.
