  • Sabean was a player for the Eckerd College baseball team from 1974 to 1978.
  • In 1979, Brian moved on to become the assistant baseball coach at St. Leo College.
  • In 1980, he became the assistant coach at The University of Tampa and was promoted to head coach in 1983, making a first ever appearance in the NCAA regional tournament in 1984.
  • He began his career in Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees as their Director of Scouting and Vice President of Player Development/Scouting for eight years.
  • He then served as the San Francisco Giant’s team Senior Vice President and General Manager for 18 seasons, from 1997-2014. He holds the record for the longest tenured GM position in MLB history.
  • During this time, the Giants won three World Championships (2010, 2012, 2014).
  • In 2015, Sabean was promoted to Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations for the Giants.
  • Sabean has received several honors in the baseball industry for his dedication to the game. In his 31st season as a baseball executive, the Boston Chapter of the BBWAA honored him as the 2010 Major League Baseball Executive of the Year. He also received Baseball America's Executive of the Year in 2012 after leading the Giants to their second World Series Championship.
  • Sabean and his wife, Amanda, have two sons, Aidan and Declan and are parents and stepparents to Colin, Sean, Brendan and Darren.
