Eckerd College Athletics Hall of Fame
Lance Cornelius Kearse Sr. was a three-year standout for the men's basketball team after transferring to Eckerd. He scored 971 points over his three years in a Triton uniform, adding five double-doubles and two triple-doubles. He added 348 rebounds, 125 assists, 64 blocks, and 42 steals while shooting 48.89 percent from the floor.Â
The 2011-12 season was his best year as he was selected to the fourth team D2 Bulletin All-American team and named the SSC Player of the Year after leading Eckerd to an NCAA Tournament appearance. He also garnered first-team All-SSC and NABC First-Team All-South Region accolades. He was also selected to the Reese's NABC Division II East vs. West All-Star Game.Â
Over his career, he ranks in four career categories, including eighth in free throws made, 16th in free throw percentage, 12th in blocks, and 20th in points per game. In single-season records, he ranks fourth in free throws made and 18th in points. He also owns the single-game record for free throws made with 17 against Nova Southeastern in 2011-12. He was named to the SSC All-Tournament Team in 2010-11.Â
After Eckerd, he played three seasons of professional basketball overseas and received an invite to the Jaguars camp as a tight end in 2013.Â
