  • Evers was born in 1954 in New York, NY.
  • He made his way down to St. Petersburg to play baseball at Eckerd from 1973-1976, while getting his degree in Management and Recreation.
  • In Eckerd’s history, he is listed third in career runs batted in with 158 and sixth in career doubles with 39.
  • During his college career, he was named the 1975 and 1976 NCAA All American player.
  • He was drafted by three MLB teams in 1975 and 1976 and played for the Chicago Cubs for three years before starting his management career.
  • Evers won the Florida State League and two Texas State League championships.
  • Evers has a 1,381-1,206 (.534) record, which is the second most wins among active minor league managers.
  • Evers won five minor league championships and managed three of the Rays' five minor league championship teams.
  • Evers was the Tampa Bay Devil Rays bench coach from 2005-2007 before becoming a professional scout for the Rays. He has been the field coordinator for the Rays since 2009.
  • Evers received the William H. Kadel Alumni Medal for Outstanding Career Achievement from Eckerd in 2006.
