Four Tritons Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Eckerd women's basketball was well-represented on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) annual Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, with Chance Bucher, Greta Carollo, Ieva Korzane, and Lisa Michaelsen receiving the honor as announced they the organization on Tuesday.

Bucher, a senior from Half Moon Bay, California, holds a 3.8 grade point average in communication. She led the team, averaging 15.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.  She also added 1.9 assists and 0.8 steals per game over 28 games. She received numerous accolades this season including WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, first-team All-SSC, SSC All-Tournament Team, and second-team D2CCA All-Region honors. She was also a four-time SSC Player of the Week.

Carolla, a junior from Vicenza, Italy, boasts a 3.92 grade point average in international business. She appeared in all 28 games, averaging 5.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. She added a career-high 18 points against Florida Southern (February 5). 

Korzane, a junior from Jurmala, Valteri, Latvia, maintains a 3.51 GPA in international business. Korzane played in all 28 games, averaging 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds,  3.0 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. She posted a career-high 20 points against Nova Southeastern. She is a recipient of the SSC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

Michaelsen, a junior from Holbaek, Denmark, boasts a 3.52 GPA in international business. She averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 boards, 1.6 blocks, and 1.2 assists per game, appearing in all 28 games. She was tabbed the SSC Defensive Player of the Week on December 16. 

Bucher now moves onto the Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced next month. 

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5  or higher in order to qualify for selection. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
