HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's basketball team downed the No. 2 seeded Union Bulldogs on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by a score of 65-38.

It was a defensive battle both ways in the opening quarter, with the Tritons holding just a 4-0 lead through the opening four minutes of play. Jaylen Ostenson's three-pointer around the halfway point made it a 7-0 game before a bucket by Ieva Korzane stretched the lead to nine. Union did not collect a point until 3:27 remaining in the quarter, which served as the only points of the quarter for the team. Eckerd led 13-2 after 10 minutes of play.

It was a game of runs in the second quarter. The Bulldogs got within two through the first half of the period, using a 14-5 run to pull within two at 18-16. From there, Eckerd rattled off 10 straight points to close out the frame, seeing five straight points from Korzane cap off the scoring surge.
