ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- Eckerd women's basketball head coach
Paul Honsinger '98 has named Maddie Sims to his staff as the assistant women's basketball coach.
"I'm super excited to have Maddie on board. Her personality, energy, and work ethic are a natural fit for Eckerd," stated Honsinger. "She will make a great addition to our program."
Sims comes to Eckerd from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in New York, where she served as the men's basketball assistant coach this season.
"I am really excited to join the women's basketball program at Eckerd," stated Sims. "To get the opportunity to join a successful program and learn from a leader like Paul is an incredible opportunity!"
Sims played at the Division I level, spending her first three seasons at Siena College (NY), where she appeared in 91 games with 51 starts while averaging 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. In her junior year, she was tabbed to the All-MAAC Second Team after averaging 12.1 points, 7.8 boards, and 1.53 blocks per game with seven double-doubles.
She spent the 2020-21 season at the University of Massachusetts, averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. She played her final season at the University of Delaware, averaging 12.3 minutes per game.
Sims obtained her bachelor of science from UMass in 2020 and her master's in Public Policy from UMass the following year. She completed her second master's degree in international business at Delaware in 2022.
