ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. The Eckerd women's basketball team was well-represented on the annual College Sports Communicators (CSC) annual Academic All-District Basketball Team, with three Tritons receiving the honor:
Jessie Ford,
Martyna Kowalska, and
Hannah Wentworth.
Ford, from Marlborough, England, United Kingdom, boasts a 4.0 grade point average in psychology. She started 22 of 31 games played and averaged 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She posted a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds in the SSC Tournament Championship. She was tabbed to the All-SSC Tournament Team.
Kowalska, from Leszno, Poland, holds a 4.0 GPA in Marine Biology. Kowalska started 25 of 32 games played and ranked second on the squad in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game. She also averaged 6.1 boards and 0.9 blocks per game. She added a career-high 32-point performance in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. She was tabbed to the All-SSC Tournament Team.
Wentworth, from Auckland, New Zealand, maintains a 3.6 grade point average in Human Development. Wentworth started 25 out of 26 games played and was selected to the Sunshine State Conference Third Team. She averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game while leading the team in triples made with 64.
The 2024 Academic All‐District® Basketball Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher in order to qualify for selection. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
