Tritons Finish 14th at ICSA Women's Fleet Race Nationals

KINGS POINT, NY - The Eckerd women's sailing team ended competition at the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championships on Wednesday, finishing in 14th place in the Western Division with 191 points. 

The top nine teams from the Eastern and Western Divisions move on to the finals tomorrow.

The teams had a late start with low wind conditions as action resumed at 2:30 PM to complete the final two races. 

Eden Nykamp skippered the A Division to two top-ten finishes accompanied by crew Amelia Johnson. The pair finished fifth in race seven and sixth in race eight. The two races catapulted the Tritons to 11th place after the A Division. 

The duo finished ninth in the A Division with 67 points.

Lily Schwartz and Tess Levanway competed in the B Division. The duo tied their competition-best finish of 11th place in race seven and placed 17th in their final race of the regatta. 

Eckerd finished 17th in the B Division with 124 points. 

Stanford led the field with 60 points. 

Eckerd open sailing will compete in the ICSA Open Fleet National semifinals next Tuesday and Wednesday, with races beginning at 10:00 AM both days.
