ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's sailing team opens the ICSA Fleet Race Championships in Kings Point, New York, tomorrow morning, May 23.

The women's sailing team will compete for the first time since the SAISA Women's Championships in April, where the team placed fifth in both the team and fleet race championships.
Eckerd made six top-five finishes in women's competitions during the year.
Eckerd's women's team received the No. 34 seed of 36 teams selected. They are making the program's first appearance since 2019.
The Tritons will travel five sailors, as skippers Eden Nykamp and Lily Schwartz, will be joined by crew Amelia Johnson, Tess Levanway, and Sophie Leduc in the championship regatta. Nykamp received first-team All-SAISA honors for open and women's skippers.
Nykamp skippered the A Division for Eckerd in five of the eight women's events through the season. Nykamp paired with Johnson at the Sugar Bowl for 51 points and a fourth-place finish. She paired with Johnson again at the SAISA Fall Women's Championship for 20 points and a third-place finish. Nykamp skippered the A Division at Navy Spring Women's with Elissa Martinez. In the SAISA Women's Team Race Championship, she paired with Martinez and Levanway for a second-place finish.
Schwartz skippered the A Division for Eckerd in the Florida Trophy and led the B Division in four of the remaining seven women's events. Schwartz paired with Tess Heilman in the B Division of the SAISA Fall Women's Championship for 42 points and a seventh-place finish. She paired with Johnson (1-8) and Levanway (9-10) in the B Division at the Navy Spring Women's. Schwartz skippered the A Division at the Florida Trophy with Martinez as crew for 48 points. She paired with Martinez once again at the SAISA Spring Women's Open in the B Division for 24 points and a fourth-place finish. In the SAISA Women's Team Race Championship, she paired with Johnson in the B Division for 51 points and a fifth-place finish.
Leduc was crew for two women's events with Tia Soultankakis as skipper. The tandem competed in the B Division at the Florida Trophy for 44 points and the A Division at the SAISA Spring Women's Open for 59 points.
