Tritons Drop Match to No. 17 Rattlers

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell 7-0 to the Rattlers of St. Mary's University (Texas) at the Bullard Courts on Monday.

The Rattlers (9-3) beat the Tritons (2-8) after earning the doubles point and sweeping six singles matches. 

The Tritons fell in all three draws of doubles play. Ericka Chavarria and Julia Triska collected four games against the No. 3 pairing of Gabi Ioannou and Stela Sifuentes.

The Rattlers clinched the win in singles play at the No. 1 draw after taking both the two's and three's draws each 6-1, 6-1. Kylie Misdorp faced the No. 10 nationally ranked Ashley Penshorn in the No. 1 spot. Misdorp put up a fight in set one, only falling 6-4 before falling in set two 6-1 to allow the Rattlers to clinch the match. Her five games were the most of any Triton on the day. 

Morgan O'Connor made her first career appearance on the court in the No. 5 spot against Bailey Godwin. O'Connor ultimately fell 6-0, 6-0.

The Tritons are back home on Thursday against Dallas Baptist University (Texas), with first serve at 2:00 PM.
