Box Score ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons women's tennis team won its eighth straight match on Friday, defeating the visiting Franklin Pierce Ravens by a score of 6-1.
The Tritons were victorious in two of three doubles matches to claim the early point, beginning with
Valentina Sanchez Bronzetti and
Maialen Idiakez's 6-0 win at No. 3.
Olivia Lindestaf and
Catherine Cole were next to finish at No. 1 by a score of 6-1 to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead entering singles.Â
Lindestaf was the first to finish in singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-2 decision at the top position. Sanchez Bronzetti extended the lead to 3-0 for the team with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3, while Idiakez clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 4. Both Cole at No. 5 and
Laura Ullrich at No. 6 earned victories to complete the 6-1 win for the team.Â
Eckerd now sits at 10-2 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow to host No. 4 Nova Southeastern.
