Triton Beach Volleyball Drops Two at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. - A shorthanded Eckerd beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at Saint Leo on Saturday to conclude the regular season.

The Tritons lost the first match of the morning, 5-0, before dropping the second of two, 4-1.

Eckerd began both matches down, 1-0, after injuries kept the team from fielding a pair in the No. 5 draw.

In the opening match, Eckerd came close to taking a point at the No. 4 pair after Payton Meader and Ivey Andrews bounced back from a 21-12 first-set loss to win the second, 21-14. The third set was tightly contested before SLU's Arlaina Stephenson and Annabella Arcari held on for a 15-13 win.

In the second match, Margot Balliet and Fernanda Reis scored a win at the No. 3 draw in straight sets over Payton Bellano and Anilise Fitzi 23-21, 21-17.

The Tritons lost in straight sets in the other three draws.

Eckerd (1-17) is away from competition until April 19 at the AVCA Small College Championships in Tavares, Florida.
