GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team split its first two contests of the AVCA Small College Championships on Friday, defeating the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 3-0 before falling to the Carson-Newman Eagles by a score of 3-2.
In match one vs. the Bearcats, the Tritons saw three quick wins to clinch the match.
Jessi Meghreblian and
Addie White won 21-4, 21-7 at No. 5, while two other pairs also prevented their opponents from reaching double figures in either set.
Marti Boser and
Emma Samuelson earned a 21-4, 21-9 decision at No. 4, while
Brooke Hand and
Maddie Prois were victorious at No. 2 with a 21-8, 21-9 final score.
In the second contest of the day vs. Carson-Newman, the Tritons saw victories at No. 1 and No. 5.
Madison Hardbarger and
Anna Jupin collected a 21-13, 21-18 triumph at the top flight, while White and Meghreblian picked up their second win of the day with a 21-18, 21-17 final score. Boser and Samuelson won a set at No. 4, but eventually fell in three.
In the pairs challenge,
Addison Chapman and
Hayley Lipinski were the champions of their flight.
