GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team won twice on Sunday to capture the bronze bracket championship and take ninth place overall at the AVCA Small College Championships. The Tritons defeated the Wingate Bulldogs by a score of 3-1 before downing the Florida Southern Mocs by a score of 3-2.
In match one vs. Wingate, the Tritons claimed three of the first four matches to seal the team win.
Ella Kloepper and
Teagan VanderMey were the only duo to win their match in straight sets after securing a 21-17, 21-17 decision at No. 3.
Marti Boser and
Emma Samuelson bounced back from a first-set defeat to win in three at No. 4, taking down their counterparts by a score of 14-21, 21-18, 15-12.
Jessi Meghreblian and
Addie White were also victorious in three sets at No. 5 with a 21-13, 16-21, 15-8 triumph.
In the bronze championship, Eckerd faced off with SSC foe Florida Southern, the team the Tritons opened their 2026 season with. Meghreblian and White won their second match of the day at No. 5 by a score of 21-16, 21-13, while
Brooke Hand and
Maddie Prois also collected a straight-set victory at No. 2 by a final of 21-16, 21-17.
The lone three-set contest came at No. 4 and was won by Eckerd. Boser and Samuelson fell in the first set, but came back to win the final two and take the match by a 13-21, 22-20, 15-10 final score.
With the wins, the Tritons end the season with a 23-16 record. The 23 wins are the most in program history.
