FIRST CONFERENCE WIN
- The Tritons won their first conference series of the season last weekend defeating Rollins, two games to one. Eckerd won the opener by a score of 3-2, stepping out to an early 2-0 lead through three innings.
Chelsea Armstrong drove in the first run on a single up the middle and
Carrie Shere was later able to score off an errant throw in the second inning. The Tars scored twice to tie the game in the fourth. In the seventh,
Crystal Garcia and
Kaleigh Floyd reached on infield singles, setting the table for some walk-off magic.
Rachael Luckett came to the plate ripping a double to right center for the walk-off win.
- Eckerd dropped the second game of the series Saturday, 13-2, forcing a third-game rubber match. In the third inning, Armstrong laid down a perfectly-executed squeeze bunt to bring in Floyd to start things for Eckerd.
Nikole Van Gennep then drove in Luckett on a sac fly to left for another two-run lead. Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, Armstrong delivered again driving a shot to centerfield for a three-run home run.
