BASEBALL GAMEDAY: Eckerd Returns Home for Midweek Matchup against Warner

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Coming off of a four-game week that included three road conference matchups, the Eckerd Tritons baseball team returns home for a midweek game against Warner University on Tuesday.

GAME 9: Warner (9-4) at Eckerd (4-4) | Tuesday - 6:00 PM
COVERAGE: Live Stats | Live Video
PROBABLE STARTER: Kevin Plant (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

LAST TIME OUT: The conference schedule proved to be tough right out of the gate as Eckerd dropped its opening series at Barry two games to one. The Buccaneers took game one, 5-1, on Friday night before taking the first game of Saturday's double header, 6-0. The final game of the series went in the Tritons favor, 4-3, as Dillon McCollough struck out nine Bucs over five innings before Jack Mahan recorded the win in relief.

REGATHER: After a pair of blowout victories over Colorado Christian the week before, the Tritons dropped three out of four last week including their first two Sunshine State Conference matchups. EC should look at Tuesday as a chance to regather its rhythm in a non-regional contest against the NAIA member, Warner.

PLANT ON POINT: Kevin Plant, the redshirt senior from Pembroke, Massachusetts, found a groove in EC's first contest of the year when he pitched four scoreless innings while striking out five batters in the 10-3 victory. He's appeared in 2.2 innings over two games the rest of the year, keeping the opposition scoreless while allowing just three hits.

FAST AND FURIOUS: The Tritons have shown aggression on the base paths as they have stolen 19 bases on 23 attempts. Nine players have recorded a steal while Lucas Luopa and Nick Hill lead the charge with four each.

2015 RESULTS:The Royals and Tritons met three times during the 2015 season including a double header on February 7 in St. Petersburg. Warner took the first game, 4-5, before Eckerd captured game two, 9-3. The rubber match took place in Lake Wales on April 21, and EC took the win, 11-8, in a game that saw both offenses rolling with a combined 24 hits.
