ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Saturday is “Think Pink” Day and the Eckerd College women's basketball program is asking for support from fans, students, faculty and staff, in the fight against breast cancer while it takes the court against Barry University for a 2 p.m. matchup.
The Tritons will be wearing limited edition pink uniforms on the court as graciously donated by the family of Eckerd Head Coach
Paul Honsinger in commemoration of his mother, Anne, a three-year breast cancer survivor.
In addition, the McArthur Center gym will be decorated in pink and white balloons, while ribbons/fact cards/bandanas will be distributed at the door. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink attire to the game.
In partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Pink Zone Initiative, the Tritons will donate a portion of generated proceeds to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which has raised over $600,000 towards breast cancer research this year alone.
“In the grand scheme of things, the 'Think Pink' cause is far more important than basketball and we understand this is a very serious matter that directly impacts the lives of so many people,” Honsinger empathized. “We want to recognize the perseverance of such a courageous fight that so many have overcome through their original diagnosis.”
The team will also recognize breast cancer survivors in attendance for Saturday's game. If you or a loved one, friend or relative, are a survivor of breast cancer, we would enjoy the opportunity to celebrate your triumph.
Please contact EC Head Coach
Paul Honsinger (

Senior guard
Kati Rausberg will also be recognized during halftime of the Eckerd/Barry men's basketball game for joining the elite 1,000-point club in her prestigious four-year career to date. She officially eclipsed the career milestone against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday.
