ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's basketball team finished off the regular season with an impressive 74-45 victory over visiting Saint Leo on Wednesday evening at the McArthur Center.
Senior guard Ashley Lutz scored 23 points, and Lotte Tobiasen added 19 off the bench, as the Tritons (16-10, 9-7 Sunshine State Conference) moved within one win of tying the program's single-season record.
Senior forward Tijana Brdar had 10 points and seven rebounds. Brdar and Lutz were honored prior to the game on “Senior Night.”
The Tritons played one of their cleanest games of the year, committing a season-low 11 turnovers. Eckerd made just four miscues in the first half, helping the hosts grab a 38-22 lead at halftime.
Eckerd scored 22 points of Saint Leo's 18 turnovers.
Lauren Lee led the Lions (9-17, 1-14) with 16 points.
The Tritons never led by less than double figures after the 7:49 mark of the first half.
Eckerd will now await an opponent in next week's SSC Championship. If Rollins loses to Lynn on Saturday, the Tritons will play host to Rollins in the first round next Wednesday.
If Rollins wins, the Tritons will travel to a first-round opponent to be announced.
