MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) preseason coaches' poll, the conference announced Thursday. The Tritons had 30 points in the poll, tied with Nova Southeastern for third, and also picked up one first-place vote.
The Tritons are coming off an SSC regular season title in 2025-26, finishing 17-3 in league play with two wins over ranked opponents. Eckerd capped off its historic season with a trip to the Sweet 16.
Eckerd returns a pair of key contributors in senior guard Kailyn Terrell and sophomore guard Savi Borowicz.
Terrell appeared in 32 games last season, averaging 6.4 points per game while connecting on 44 three-pointers. She also brings valuable conference experience to the Tritons' backcourt, having previously earned SSC Freshman of the Year honors at Nova Southeastern.
Borowicz looks to build on her freshman campaign after appearing in 30 contests, averaging 4.6 points per game. She knocked down 29 three-pointers in her debut season and will look to take on an expanded role for the Tritons this year.
Eckerd enters the season under the direction of head coach Paul Honsinger, who enters his 21st season under the helm.
