Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team fell to 1-14 in the Sunshine State Conference and 16-20 overall as they dropped their double-header to No. 26 Florida Tech (30-11, 10-8 SSC) on Saturday afternoon at Seminick-Hall Field.  In game one, the Tritons fell 7-3, and then dropped the second game, 2-0.

In game one, the Panthers put up two runs in the first inning due to a base hit up the middle.  They continued to add on to their score in the third and fourth inning, scoring four runs total to make it a 6-0 game.  The Tritons were able to score a run in the seventh inning due to Joe Dabah's fielder's choice that brought home Chris Clinton to make it a 6-1 game.  Florida Tech scored their seventh run during their at-bats in the same inning.  Even though Eckerd was able to score two runs in the ninth, it wasn't enough to take the game one victory from Florida Tech.

Jay Moroff took the loss for the Tritons, pitching four innings and giving up six hits, four runs, three walks, and struck out two batters.  Johnny Lancaster came in to pitch 3.1 innings, giving up three hits, three runs, three walks, and struck out five Panthers.  Adam Whitlow only pitched 0.2 innings, not giving up any hits.

Despite Joey Cuda's three-hitter in game two, Florida Tech was able to score two runs for the victory.  Cuda pitched six innings, giving up two runs and struck out five Panthers.  Starting pitcher Dylan Wolchik pitched a two-hit shut out against the Tritons.  The two hits came off the bats of Chris Blydell and Dabah.

Eckerd will return to action Tuesday, April 13 as they travel over to Clearwater Christian College.  First pitch will be thrown at 7:00 pm.
