SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday with a pair of wins, defeating the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans by a score of 3-2 and the Palm Beach State Panthers by a final of 4-1.
In match one vs. New College of Florida, three of the five matches were decided in three sets.
Brooke Hand and
Maddie Prois bounced back from a first-set loss to win the final two at the No. 2 spot, while
Addie White and
Marti Boser won the first and third to collect a victory in their match at No. 5. The Mighty Banyans won the other three-set battle at the No. 1 slot.
Eckerd's other win came in straight sets at the No. 3 position, with
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper collecting a 21-18, 21-17 decision.Â
In the second match of the day vs. the Panthers, the Tritons saw three wins decided in just two sets.
Madison Hardbarger and
Anna Jupin were victorious at No. 1 with a 22-20, 21-13 score, while VanderMey and Kloepper earned their second win of the day with a 21-13, 21-16 triumph at No. 3. White and
Jessi Meghreblian picked up a quick 21-13, 21-8 victory at No. 5, and Boser and
Emma Samuelson took down their counterparts at No. 4 in three sets.Â
The Tritons will compete in the SSC Tournament next weekend at Saint Leo.
