INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's basketball team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in the last nine seasons, earning a No. 3 seed in the South Region bracket.
Eckerd earned the spot after finishing the season with a 23-6 overall record and 17-3 mark in the SSC. The team was regular season champions of the conference for the just the second time in program history. The Tritons had three wins over top-25 opponents, two of which came on the road.
Alabama-Huntsville will be the host school as the No. 1 seed, with action set to begin on Friday, March 13. The Tritons will face No. 6 seeded Embry-Riddle for the third time this season. The teams split their regular season meetings, each winning on their home courts.
Eckerd and Embry-Riddle will be the first game of the regional on Friday with a 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET start time.
