ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team fell in the final two matches of the home weekend tournament on Saturday, losing to the Tampa Spartans by a score of 5-0 before coming up short against the Missouri State Bears 4-1.
All five matches against Tampa went in favor of the Spartans, but the Tritons pushed three of those to three sets.
Teagan VanderMey and
Brooke Hand bounced back from a set one loss to win the second at No. 2, while
Addie White and
Marti Boser won the opener at No. 5.
Madison Hardbarger and
Ella Kloepper won a set at No. 3, but dropped the other two by two points each.
Against Missouri State, the Tritons picked up a win at No. 3 as VanderMey and Hand defeated their opponent 21-16, 25-13. The Bears took the other four matches, all in straight sets.
Eckerd will be back in action next Saturday for a pair of matches at New College of Florida.
