ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team picked up a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Missouri State Bears on Friday by a score of 3-2.
Eckerd and Missouri State split the first two matches to finish, with
Jessi Meghreblian and
Emma Samuelson bouncing back from a first-set loss to win 12-21, 21-19, 15-12 at No. 4. The Bears got a point back, but the Tritons evened the score back up at two wins apiece following
Addie White and
Marti Boser's victory at No. 5. The duo won in straight sets by a final of 21-14, 21-15.
The match came down to the No. 3 flight and the tandem of
Madison Hardbarger and
Ella Kloepper. The two earned a 21-14 victory in the first set before dropping the second to result in a third and final set. Trailing 15-14, the pair collected the final three points, with an ace sealing the match.
Eckerd improves to 14-10 with the win and will be back in action tomorrow to host Tampa and Missouri State.
