SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Tuesday at Saint Leo, beating the St. Johns River Vikings by a score of 5-0 before falling to the host Saint Leo Lions by the same score.
Against the Vikings, the Tritons won all five contests in straight sets. Starting at the top spot,
Brooke Hand and
Anna Jupin were victorious by a score of 21-13, 21-6.
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper won their match at No. 2 by a final of 21-12, 21-17, while
Maddie Prois and
Emma Samuelson picked up a 21-16, 21-17 victory at No. 3.
Marti Boser and
Madison Hardbarger battled through a 22-20 first-set win before coasting to a 21-8 score in the second to earn a win at No. 4.
Addie White and
Jessi Meghreblian rounded out the lineup for the Tritons with a 21-12, 21-11 decision at No. 5.
In match two vs. the Lions, the home team took four of the match in straight sets. Boser and Hardbarger bounced back from a first-set loss with a 21-13 in the second, but eventually fell in a long third set by a score of 21-19.
Eckerd will be back in action this weekend for the home Baker Beach Bash.
