ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team won both matches on Saturday to close out the home Battle on the Bay, defeating Lindenwood 3-2 before knocking off Tusculum by a score of 4-1.
In match one vs. the Lions of Lindenwood, the teams saw three matches go three sets. Eckerd won both of the contests that were decided in straight sets, with
Brooke Hand and
Anna Jupin earning a 21-12, 21-18 win at the No. 1 flight, and
Addie White and
Jessi Meghreblian defeating their opponents at No. 5 by a score of 21-15, 21-17.
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper were the first to get the Tritons on the board at No. 2, winning their match in three by a final of 23-25, 21-19, 15-12.
Against the Pioneers in the second match of the day, Eckerd saw three straight-set victories, with the first coming from White and Meghreblian at No. 4 with a 21-14, 21-17 final. VanderMey and Kloepper were the next duo to finish for the Tritons, winning their second three-set battle of the day at No. 2 by a score of 21-12, 16-21, 15-9.
Maddie Prois and
Emma Samuelson earned a victory at No. 3 with a 21-11, 21-11 decision, and
Marti Boser and
Madison Hardbarger rounded out the lineup with a 21-14, 21-10 win at No. 5.
Eckerd improves to 12-9 with the wins and will next be in action Tuesday to face St. Johns River and Saint Leo.
