BABSON PARK, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team picked up a pair of 5-0 sweeps on Wednesday over the Webber International Warriors and Southern Virginia Knights.
In match one of the day vs. Webber International, the Tritons secured four of their five wins in straight sets. At the No. 3 flight,
Maddie Prois and
Emma Samuelson were the most decisive pair of the day, cruising to a 21-9, 21-3 victory.
Addie White and
Marti Boser posted comfortable 21-16, 21-16 win at No. 4, while
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper also earned a straight-set victory at the No. 2 position, defeating their opponents 21-13, 21-11.
At the top spot, Brooke Hand and Anna Jupin battled through a tight opening set before pulling away for a 25-23, 21-11 win. The closest contest of the match came at No. 5, where Jessi Meghreblian and Natalie Harvey rebounded after dropping the second set to earn a 21-19, 23-25, 15-9 decision.
In the second contest vs. Southern Virginia, Eckerd saw a dominant performance at the No. 4 flight as White and Madison Hardbarger rolled to a 21-8, 21-6 win. At the top of the lineup, Hand and Jupin controlled their match from start to finish, defeating their counterpart 21-10, 21-8 at the No. 1 position. VanderMey and Kloepper picked up a 21-13, 21-12 victory at No. 2, while Prois and Samuelson bounced back after dropping the opening set to take No. 3 by a score of 20-22, 21-12, 16-14.
Jocelyn Escoffery and Meghreblian capped off the lineup with a straight-set win at No. 5 with a 21-10, 21-14 decision.
Eckerd is now 10-7 on the year and winners of seven straight. The team already has its most wins in a season since the 2018 season.
