ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team capped off the Triton Invite on Saturday with another pair of wins to finish the weekend 5-0, defeating both Berry and Catawba by scores of 5-0.
In match one vs. Berry, three of the five matches were decided in three sets.
Brooke Hand and
Anna Jupin were one of two pairs for the Tritons to finish in straight sets, winning at No. 1 by a score of 23-21, 21-8.
Jocelyn Escoffery and
Jessi Meghreblian were the others to not need an extra set, taking down their opponents at No. 5 by a final of 21-18, 21-17.
All three other matches saw Berry winning the opening set.
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper came back from a 21-17 defeat at No. 2 in the opener to win by a final score of 17-21, 21-15, 15-10, while
Maddie Prois and
Emma Samuelson saw a two-point defeat in the first at No. 3 before taking the match 19-21, 21-15, 15-7.
Addie White and
Marti Boser won at No. 4 with a 16-21, 21-14, 15-8.
It was nearly a clean sweep all the way through vs. Catawba, with Eckerd winning four of its five sets in just two. VanderMey and Kloepper needed three to get it done at No. 2, again bouncing back from a first-set loss to win 18-21, 21-17, 15-10. Hand and Jupin were victorious 21-15, 21-15 at No. 1, and Prois/Samuelson made quick work of their opponents at No. 3 by a final of 21-9, 21-12.
Addie White and
Madison Hardbarger earned a victory at No. 4 with a final of 21-11, 21-12, while Escoffery and Meghreblian rounded out the lineup with a 21-15, 21-13 triumph at No. 5.
With the wins, Eckerd improves to 8-7 on the season. The team will be back in action for a tri-match on Wednesday at Webber International.
