ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team went 1-1 on Wednesday to begin the 2026 season, falling to the Florida Southern Moccasins 3-2 before taking down the Webber International Warriors by a score of 4-1.
In match one vs. Florida Southern, the visiting Mocs took the early 2-0 lead after a pair of wins at the No. 4 and 2 positions.
Addie White and
Maddie Prois bounced back from a first-set loss with a 21-16 victory in the second to force a tiebreaker, but fell in the third.Â
Teagan VanderMey and
Ella Kloepper got the Tritons on the board with a 21-19, 25-23 decision at the No. 3 spot, but the Mocs clinched the match with a three-set win at No. 1.
Marti Lu Boser and
Emma Samuelson picked up a three-set victory at No. 5 with a final score of 21-18, 19-21, 15-7.
In the second contest of the day vs. Webber International, the Tritons earned the first point following a 22-20, 21-10 victory by White and Prois at No. 2. The Knights answered with a three-set win at No. 4, but Eckerd countered with wins in the final three matches to claim the 4-1 team triumph. Boser and Samuelson were victorious at No. 5 by a score of 21-5, 21-13, while VanderMey and Kloepper also won in straight sets at No. 3.
Brooke Hand and
Anna Jupin won a three-set contest at No. 1 to round out the day.
The Tritons will be back in action Feb. 27-28 for the Stetson Spring Fling.
