MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons softball team has been projected to finish fifth in the Sunshine State Conference preseason coaches' poll that was released on Friday.
The Tritons are coming off a 30-20 record under then first-year head coach Michelle Frew, the second most wins in program history. The Tritons boasted six single-season records in 2025, including: conference wins,
Hannah Taylor - hits and RBI,
Lex Difato - runs and singles, and
Brandilyn Reymer - strikeouts. The team brings back Taylor after one of the best single-seasons in program history, garnering second team All-American honors from the NFCA and D2CCA, and D2CCA South Region Player fo the Year.
The Tritons will also return a pair of All-Conference selections this season in
Gracie Ciccarello and Difato. Ciccarello hit .304 last season and was a member of the conference's All-Defensive Team. Difato will be the top returning hitter behind Taylor after posting a batting average of .376. She led the team with 42 stolen bases in 46 attempts. Reymer also returns for Eckerd on the mound after racking up 203 strikeouts in 164.2 innings in 2025. She led the team with a 2.34 ERA.
Eckerd opens the season on January 31 vs. Oklahoma Christian.
