ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- Eckerd student-athletes are well-known for their success in the classroom and their competitive arenas. The Tritons continued their academic merit this spring with a record-high 3.54 department GPA over the spring term.Â
Eckerd produced another tremendous year with a 3.52 department GPA over the 2024-25 academic year, following a 3.51 GPA in the fall term. The 3.52 mark for the year tops the department record of 3.45 set last year.Â
All 14 teams posted a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher this semester, with 10 teams over 3.5. Men's tennis led the department with a 3.76 average this spring and boasted a 3.76 GPA for the year as well. Women's golf topped female sports with 3.74 spring average. They added a 3.74 GPA for the academic year as well. Â
Individually, 169 Tritons produced a GPA of 3.2 or higher, which is 75 percent of the department. Fifty-nine percent of student-athletes posted a 3.5 or higher, while 44 percent achieved a 3.8 or higher. Additionally, 37 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.Â
In November, Eckerd was honored once again for its academic excellence, with the Presidents' Award by the NCAA for an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 91, ranking tied for twenty-eighth nationally. EC has received the Presidents' Award 14 years in a row and is one of just eight schools to earn the award every year since its inception.
