ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team enters the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, debuting at No. 35.
Eckerd (7-3; 0-2 SSC) enters the national rankings for the first time since 2011 when the Tritons were No. 42. The ranking is the lowest since 2006 (according to ITA archives), where Eckerd was No. 8.
Eckerd has picked up convincing wins over Division 1 Loyola (7-0), reigning PSAC Champions Edinboro (4-3), and current No. 28 Davenport (4-3). The Tritons nearly edged then No. 35 Lynn to start SSC play but fell 4-3.
Batu Ataseven in the No. 1 slot and
Adrian Gheorghe in the No. 5 position lead the Tritons with a 9-1 mark in singles action, while
Adrian Gheorghe and
Marshall Hulett in the No. 2 position and
Eric Asakura and
Lukas Palla in the No. 3 slot lead doubles action with 7-3 marks.
Eckerd returns to action on Saturday, hosting Palm Beach Atlantic at 12:00 PM for their Teal Out at the Bullard Courts.
