Box Score ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons men's tennis team earned a home victory over the Franklin Pierce Ravens on Friday, winning by a score of 5-2 to improve its winning streak to seven matches.
All three doubles contests went to the Tritons, with
Mario Kirkov and
Valdemar Spillemose Anderson kicking off the match with a 6-1 triumph.
Marshall Hulett and
Adrian Gheorghe sealed the doubles point for Eckerd with a 6-3 win at No. 2, while
Batu Ataseven and
Amirali Ghavam picked up a 6-3 victory to close out doubles play.
The Tritons clinched the match early in singles with wins in the first three to finish, beginning with Ghavam's 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 3. Ataseven made it a 3-0 lead for Eckerd with a 6-3, 6-1 score at No. 1, and Kirkov sealed the win at No. 2 with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 three-set victory. Spillemose Anderson picked up the final win for the Tritons at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 final score.
Eckerd now sits at 9-4 on the season and will be back in action next Wednesday to host Ave Maria.
