INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Eckerd Tritons volleyball team is heading back to the NCAA Tournament, landing the No. 7 seed in the South Region in an announcement by the NCAA on Monday evening.
The Tritons closed the season on a four-match winning streak, including three wins in the final three contests over teams ranked ahead of them in the region. Eckerd will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 19-12 overall record and will take on the No. 2 seeded and No. 3 nationally-ranked Barry Buccaneers in the opening round. The Bucs defeated the Tritons 3-1 each time out this season, with four of the eight sets played decided by three points or less.
This year's South Regional will be hosted by No. 1 Tampa.Â
