Lakeland, Fla. - The Eckerd men's golf team opened the season at the Matlock Collegiate Classic at the Lone Palm Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Eckerd finished 14th and carded rounds of 311-313-317 for a three-round total of 941.
Josh DiZinno (77-74-75) T30
- DiZinno led Eckerd in par-3 and par-5 scoring.
- DiZinno carded 29 pars and six pars.
- DIZinno posted Eckerd's only eagle.
Tyler Van Dusen (73-78-79) T49
- Van Dusen led the squad in par-4 scoring.
- Van Dusen carded 28 pars and seven birdies.
- He opened the event with three straight birdies to lead the field.
Shane Darby (78-80-83) T70
- Darby led Eckerd with 30 pars.
Luke Kusserow (85-81-80) T74
- Kusserow fired 24 pars and four birdies.
Andrew Demuth (83-81-84) 76
- Demuth added 26 pars and four birdies.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Florida Southern won the team title with a six-over 870.
- Michael Hay of Nova Southeastern won the individual title with a 3-under 213.
- Van Dusen's opening round 73 was a career-low.
