DELNAD, Fla. - The Tritons beach volleyball team dropped a pair of contests on day two of the Stetson Spring Fling in Deland, falling to Mercer (Ga.) and Florida Gulf Coast both by scores of 5-0 on Saturday.
Eckerd (0-4) dropped its first match of the day to Mercer (1-2), 5-0.
Jessi Meghreblian and
Addie White battled in the No. 5 slot. They fell in the opener but nearly forced a third set before falling in the second 23-21.
Elissa Johnson and
Brooke Hand nearly gave the Tritons their first point of the weekend, taking the first set 21-19. However, they dropped the next two, 21-9 and 17-15.
Mercer took the rest of the positions in straight sets.
Florida Gulf Coast (3-0) won their draws in straight sets. Meghreblian and White battled in the No. 5 slot, falling 21-19 and 21-17.
Eckerd returns to action on March 5 with a tri-match with Tampa and Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers.
