DELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd beach volleyball team doped a pair of contests by scores of 5-0 to No. 16 Stetson (Fla.) and Southern Mississippi at the Stetson Spring Fling to open the season on Friday.
In the opener, Eckerd (0-2) battled in the No. 4 draw as
Jessi Meghreblian and
Addie White dropped the first set 21-13 but rallied to take the second 21-19. They ultimately dropped the third set 15-11 to Stetson's Julia Czurylo and Gabriella Bramante.
Stetson (2-0) took the rest of the slots in straight sets for the 5-0 win.
Southern Mississippi took each flight in straight sets in the second match of the day over Eckerd, 5-0.
Eckerd returns for day two of the Stetson Spring Fling tomorrow, facing Mercer (Ga.) at 8:00 AM and Florida Gulf Coast at 12:00 PM.
