ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team defeated Dallas Baptist (Texas) 4-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
The Tritons (7-5) defeated the Patriots (10-9) by taking the doubles point and three singles matches.
In the No. 1 slot, Esteve Augusti and Batu Ataseven completed a 6-0 sweep against DBU's top pairing of Bradley Neil and Will Fiala. Jon William Karlstad and Christian Kearns clinched the doubles point with a thrilling 6-4 victory over Matthew Abbey and Aaron Capone.
The Tritons sealed the day in singles play, taking three matches to clinch the victory. Augusti defeated Grant McKenzie 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 slot. Ataseven followed with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 victories in the two's draw. Karlstad clinched the win 6-4, 6-3, as the remaining singles matches went unfinished.
The Tritons are home again tomorrow for their final time until April at the Bullard Courts. They matchup against Hamilton College (NY) with first serve at 3:00 PM.
