SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd beach volleyball team fell in a tri-match to Stevenson (Md.), 3-2, and Saint Leo, 5-0, at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts on Thursday afternoon.
The Tritons were edged out by the Mustangs 3-2. The No. 2 and No. 3 draws were the lone two wins for the Tritons on the day. The No. 2 flight of Dana Dull and Joelle Coulter defeated Rileigh Kimball and Miranda Mueck 21-6, 21-11. Anna Jupin and Addie White picked up a three-set victory over Makala Thompason and Nicole Fuglestad 22-20, 14-21, 15-22. The No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5 draws all went to three sets, but the Tritons were not able to complete the victory.
Against Saint Leo, the Tritons fell in all five matches. The No. 1 and No. 2 draws came closest for the Tritons, when Agata Sklepik and Dana Dull forced set three 21-14 after falling behind 21-18 in the first. They ultimately fell 15-7 in the final set. Kitana Lim and Joelle Coulter jumped out to a hot start, taking set one 21-11. They fell 21-12 and 15-8, dropping the match.
The Tritons (2-7) host Jacksonville State University for an exhibition match on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Eckerd Beach Courts.
