Tritons Conclude Fall at SAISA Championships

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing teams capped their fall slate with a pair of strong performances at the SAISA Fall Championships. 

Eckerd placed sixth in the SAISA Fall Women's Championship with 62 points, just two points from moving up the leaderboard. 

Eden Nykamp and Amelia Johnson paced the A Division with 20 points and a third-place finish. The tandem was just seven points off the lead. They placed in the top three in four of the six races, with a pair of second-place finishes in the first and fifth races and two third-place finishes in races two and six. 

Lily Schwartz and Tess Heilman competed in the B Division with 42 points for seventh place. 

Jacksonville won the women's championship with 29 points. 

At the SAISA Fall Open Championship, the Tritons sat steady among the top half of the leaderboard all weekend, finishing fifth with 121 points. 

Nykamp skippered the A Division with Johnson (1-3, 7-9) and Brooks Jordan (4-6) as crew. They finished with 57 points and a fourth-place finish. They finished in the top five in six of the 11 races, with a victory in races four and seven and placing second in race five. 

Mathew Monts and Elissa Martinez comprised the B Division with 64 points and a fifth-place finish. Their best race came in the sixth leg as they placed second. 

Miami won the open championship with 84 points. 

Eckerd races again in the new year at the Rose Bowl on January 7-8 in Los Angeles, California.
