SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd beach volleyball team earned a pair of wins on Saturday on the final day of the Saint Leo Invitational.  Eckerd dropped the opening contest, 4-1, against No. 13 Florida International before defeating Jacksonville, 4-1, and Florida Southern, 5-0.
After falling to Florida International, Eckerd (11-5) bounced back to take a 4-1 win over Jacksonville. 
Arielle Erillo and 
Fernanda Reis breezed in the No. 4 draw in a 21-11, 21-15 win. 
Paula Hoffmann and 
Kaitlyn Sibson also cruised in the No. 1 slot to a 21-8, 21-12 win.  The Hoffmann/Sibson tandem also earned Eckerd's lone win against FIU in the No. 2 draw (21-19, 21-14).
Eckerd got two three-set wins in the No. 3 and 5 draws. 
Kali Boatwright and 
Stephanie Bogda took the first set, 21-13, in the No. 5 slot but fell in the second set, 21-18.  The duo regrouped to claim the final set in a dominant 15-3 win. 
Rachel Cornatzer and 
Jordan Duffy fell in the first set in the No. 3 slot, 21-17, but came back to win the next two sets 21-12 and 15-9. The Tritons nearly pulled off the sweep as 
Mackenzie Redner and 
Savanna Cary barely lost in the No. 2 slot taking the match into the third set where they suffered a narrow 16-14 defeat.
The Tritons breezed past Florida Southern in the final match of the day winning 5-0 without dropping a set. Erillo and Reis in the No. 4 slot and Bogda and Boatwright in the No. 5 draw breezed past the Mocs by scores of 21-18, 21-8 and  21-4, 21-11 respectively.
Duffy and Cornatzer battled in a close win out of the No. 3 draw taking the first set, 21-18, before winning a tight second set, 24-22. Hoffmann and Sibson won in the No. 1 slot 21-13, 21-12 while Redner and Cary won in the No. 2 slot 21-11, 21-17.
In the day's opener, Cary and Redner earned Eckerd's only point in the No. 2 draw as the duo took a straight sets 21-19, 21-14 win.
Eckerd is back in action on Monday, hosting Lincoln Memorial for two matches with a 1:00 PM start at the Eckerd beach courts.
