ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A busy week continued for the Eckerd men's tennis team as, one day after a tight win, the Tritons came up short against Post (Ct.) University at the Bullard Courts on Friday afternoon, 6-3.
Will Stone and
Matt Spasic accounted for all three of Eckerd's points as the tandem won in doubles and then went on to win each of their singles matches.
Stone and Spasic defeatead Ivan Rajevac and Samuel Urban at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, for their fifth straight doubles victory. Â
Connor Masella and
Alasdair Knox stayed close to Ludvig Henrikson and Nikola Crvelin in the No. 1 doubles position but ultimately fell, 8-5.
Stone went on to make quick work of Jonathan Compres at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-2, while Spasic won a pair of tightly-contested sets from Rajevac at No. 3 singles, 7-5 and 7-5.
Coming off his big win on Thursday,
Alejandro Vuconovic went to a third set against Joe Alvord at No. 6 singles. Â Vuconovic won the first, 6-1, but Alvord took the next two, 6-2 and 6-4.
Post (2-5) also took wins at Nos. 1, 4, and 5 singles to complete the win.
The Tritons (3-5) return to the court on Monday hosting Franklin Pierce (N.H.) at 10:00 AM.
