ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Eckerd softball team will host Rollins College for a three-game Sunshine State Conference series at the Turley Athletic Complex this weekend.

TOUGH BATTLE
- The Tritons lost a pair of hard-fought games to No. 11 Saint Leo last weekend in extra innings. Eckerd lost the opener Friday night, 3-0. On Saturday, the Tritons battled in two extra inning affairs dropping both games by scores of 4-3 in nine innings and 5-4 in eight innings.
- Eckerd stepped out early in the first game as
Kaylin Kramer doubled in
Nikole Van Gennep. The Lions took the lead in the fourth inning but Eckerd evened the score in the sixth.
Dana Paul drove in the tying run on a shot back up the middle. Eckerd blanked the Lions for three innings before giving up a walk-off home run.
- In the second game, Eckerd jumped out early again plating four runs through three innings, capitalizing on a two-run homer by Van Gennep in the third. Eckerd was unable to score the rest of the game, however, as Saint Leo tied the score pushing the game into extra innings yet again.
LEADING THE OFFENSE

Rachael Luckett leads the team hitting .286 while smashing five doubles, one triple, and one home run. The junior had a strong performance in the finale Saturday going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and a stolen base.

Kayelee Newstrom has made her way into the starting lineup in 13 of the last 14 games. Newstrom has been solid at the plate hitting .268 while swiping three bags. She also went 3-for-4 in the finale Saturday.

Kaylin Kramer and Van Gennep provided the power for the Tritons last week. Kramer blasted her first collegiate home run against Quincy and added an RBI double against Saint Leo. Van Gennep hit her first home run of the season Saturday at Saint Leo while also smacking a double.
ON THE MOUND
- Van Gennep leads the Tritons on the mound throwing 128 innings, second in the conference. Van Gennep is 7-13 with a 2.08 ERA while fanning 58 batters. Van Gennep had six strikeouts Friday at Saint Leo.

Grace Willeck and
Janna Gaburo have split the rest of the time in the circle throwing a combined 72.1 innings.
ABOUT THE TARS
- Rollins comes into the series 22-10 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Tars have had two weeks off from conference play where they last swept Florida Southern.
- Six Tars lead the offense hitting over .300. Hailee Keisling leads the way hitting .371 with four doubles, one triple, and one home run. Chelsea Reed and Brianne Lint provide the power with four home runs each.
- Sarah Piening and Grace Street have been the team's workhorses in the circle. Street has a 3.07 ERA while striking out 58. Piening has fanned 44 with a 2.55 ERA.

- Eckerd lost the series last season 2-1.
Carrie Shere smacked a two-run homer in the win.
