SENIOR SERIES: This weekend's series is the final home stand for Eckerd in 2016 and the final in the careers of the program's three seniors:
Kaycie Duncan,
Brittany Martinez and
Stephanie Wolfrom. Duncan and Wolfrom are four-year members of the program while Martinez has played at Eckerd for three seasons after transferring from Saint Leo.
RECORD CHASING: Nikole Van Gennep,
Kaycie Duncan and
Rachael Luckett are all continuing to close in on single-season program records. Van Gennep is four appearances away from tying the program record of 41, set by Whitney Bernier in 2013, and 13 innings away from breaking
Amber Hay's record of 217.2 innings pitched set last year. Her current ERA of 1.71 would set a new program record if the season ended today. Duncan, with her 34 RBIs, is seven short of tying the program's single-season record of 41. Luckett enters the week with 13 doubles on the season, four away from the program mark of 17.Â
Chelsea Armstrong (12 doubles) and
Carrie Shere (32 RBIs) are also making a run at the records.
TOUCH 'EM ALL: Shere and Duncan each blasted two-run home runs in the back end of Wednesday's double-header against Warner (Fla.) University giving them nine and six on the season respectively. Shere already has 17 career home runs, putting the sophomore in fourth place in EC program history.
SIGNATURE WINS: Both Eckerd and Embry-Riddle have recorded signature wins this season. The Tritons were, for a very long time, the only team to defeat Saint Leo and still the Lions' only blemish in conference play. The Eagles took both ends of a double-header on Wednesday from No. 17 Rollins.
