SECOND TIME AROUND: Eckerd and Warner face off today for the second time this season. The Tritons swept a mid-February double-header in Lake Wales, 7-1 and 2-1.Â
Kaycie Duncan had three RBIs in the opener while
Rachael Luckett added a two-run double in the opener. In the finale,
Carrie Shere's triple in the fifth inning drove home
Emily Knox for what proved to be the winning run.
RECORD CHASING: Nikole Van Gennep,
Kaycie Duncan and
Rachael Luckett are all continuing to close in on single-season program records. Van Gennep is five appearances away from tying the program record of 41, set by Whitney Bernier in 2013, and 20 innings away from breaking
Amber Hay's record of 217.2 innings pitched set last year. Her current ERA of 1.70 would set a new program record if the season ended today. Duncan, with her 32 RBIs, is nine short of tying the program's single-season record of 41. Luckett enters the week with 13 doubles on the season, four away from the program mark of 17.
IRON WOMEN: Five Eckerd players have been in the starting lineup in all 46 of the team's games this season - Duncan, Luckett, Van Gennep,
Carrie Shere and
Chelsea Armstrong.
CLUTCH PERFORMANCE: When runners are on base, Duncan often does the job of moving them around. The senior enters the week hitting .419 with runners in scoring position and an amazing .867 with runners on third and less than two outs. Armstrong has also been outstanding with runners on third and less than two outs, hitting .545.
