Mitchell Calandra made his college debut with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate.
MOVE 'EM AROUND: The Tritons have been productive at the plate this season with runners on base, batting .315 as a team.Â
Nick Hill, in particular, has stood out as the senior is 23-of-47 (.489) when coming to the plate with runners on.Â
Tom Buonopane (.410) and
Jake O'Rourke (.407) have also elevated their averages in the same situation. Hill has been even better with runners in scoring position, going 14-of-26 when in a prime spot to drive in runs.
TODAY'S STARTER: Sophomore
Nick Alonzo will make his second start of the season tonight. Alonzo has been tough with runners on base as opponents are hitting just .188 against him in that situation. He earned a win in his second appearance of the year, throwing a perfect inning of relief against Saint Anselm (Iowa) on March 1.
STRONG FINISH: The Tritons finished their weekend series at Embry-Riddle on a high note, picking up a 10-3 win on Sunday in the series finale. Freshman
Dillon McCollough went seven strong innings on the mound while the offense pounded out 16 hits including three from
Mitchell Calandra and
Garrett Hiott.
