WatchABOUT THE BULLDOGS: Ferris State has spent quite a bit of time in Florida to open the season with all 14 of their games having been played in the Sunshine State. Two of those games were against Florida Southern, and the Bulldogs won both by a run. Alexx Astorga has been FSU's best hitter to date, batting .444 with three homeruns and 14 RBIs. Alyssa Smith provides another quality bat in the lineup, hitting .333 with one homerun and seven RBIs. In the circle, Stacy Thompson has emerged as the team's ace in the early season with a 4-0 record and a 0.97 ERA.
BIG WIN: On Friday, Eckerd ended Saint Leo's 14-game winning streak with a 2-1 win over the Lions in St. Petersburg.Â
Nikole Van Gennep tossed a three-hitter and drove in the tying run in the sixth inning. EC scored three runs against SLU in the series, which is more impressive than it sounds - the Lions had allowed only six runs in 14 games coming into the weekend.
BIG HIT: Kaleigh Floyd's first RBI in a Triton uniform came at a great time. Her two-strike, two-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning on Friday drove in the game-winning run in EC's victory over Saint Leo.
300: Six Tritons are batting .300 or better this season, led by Van Gennep at .367.Â
Rachael Luckett is hitting .328 while
Kaycie Duncan (.322),
Carrie Shere (.313),
Emily Knox (.303) and
Kiley King (.300) have added quality production at the plate.
