BASEBALL GAMEDAY: Tritons Travel to Florida Southern for Non-Conference Matchup

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team returns to the field today in a non-conference contest at Florida Southern at 6:00 PM.

GAME 18: Eckerd (8-9, 2-7 SSC) at Florida Southern (14-6, 3-3 SSC)
COVERAGE: Live Stats
PROBABLE STARTER: Jack Silberman (0-4, 6.98 ERA)

LAST TIME OUT: The Tritons salvaged the final game of a three-game conference series with Rollins on Saturday, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings on the way to an 11-6 win.  The Tars took the first two games of the series, 6-1 and 8-5.

STILL STREAKING: After recording hits in all three games over the weekend, senior Nick Hill extended his hitting streak to 10 games, the longest for a Triton this season.  Hill is hitting a team-best .446, good enough to rank eighth in conference.  The senior from Clear Springs, Maryland, has hit safely in 13 of 14 games this season.

FRESHMAN FIREPOWER: Freshmen Alex Moore and Dillon McCollough both put together solid performances on the mound on Saturday for Eckerd.  Moore gave up only one run on two hits over five innings in a no-decision in his start, while McCollough (2-1) earned the win in the finale allowing two runs over five innings with five strikeouts.

HAVE A SEAT: In the second game of Saturday's double-header, Eckerd pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts against a Rollins team that leads the conference in hitting.  McCollough had five over five innings before turning things over to the bullpen.  Nick Alonzo, Kevin Plant and Zach Hoppe combined for 10 strikeouts in the final four innings.

LAST TIME THEY MET: The Tritons took two of three games from Florida Southern on April 17-18, 2015, in Lakeland.  EC won the Friday opener, 9-4, before FSC took the first game on Saturday, 5-1.  Eckerd then won a shootout in the rubber game of the series, 14-11.  The series finale gave head coach Juan Ranero the 500th win of his career.
