ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After losing a midweek double-header to rain, the Eckerd softball team looks ahead to a busy weekend at the Flagler Invitational in Saint Augustine. The Tritons will play four times over the weekend.

Live VideoSTREAKING: After a loss and a tie to open the season, the Tritons have rolled off six straight wins heading into the Flagler Invitational. The program is certainly no stranger to long winning streaks, having won 21 straight games last season.
DYNAMIC DUO: Freshman
Nikole Van Gennep and sophomore
Janna Gaburo have formed a stellar 1-2 punch in the circle so far for the Tritons, combining for a miniscule 1.17 ERA. Van Gennep (3-1, 1.13 ERA, 2 saves) has fanned 19 in 31 innings while Gaburo (3-0, 1.22 ERA) has proven equally as difficult to score against. Both have been outstanding with their control, issuing just four walks apiece.
DOUBLE UP: Sophomore
Rachael Luckett is making the most of her first season in the clean-up spot, hitting .348 with a team-best four doubles. She's caught fire as of late, going 6 for her last 11 at-bats with all four doubles coming in that span. The lefty has shown considerable opposite-field power.
TAKE IT ON THE RUN: Heading into the season, EC head coach
Josh Beauregard wanted his team to be more aggressive on the basepaths. The Tritons have certainly been doing that early on with a total of 13 stolen bases on 20 attempts. Freshman
Emily Knox leads the team with four stolen bases while Van Gennep,
Carrie Shere and Amanda Weather have all swiped two bags.
SATURDAY'S OPPONENTS: Newberry enters the weekend with a record of 8-2 overall. The Wolves won their first eight games of the season before dropping both ends of a double-header to Francis Marion (S.C.) on Wednesday. Tuskegee (0-11) heads to Florida looking for its first win of the 2016 season.
SUNDAY'S OPPONENTS: Eckerd will open the day facing Tuskegee for the second time at the tournament before closing out against host Flagler (7-8) in the afternoon. The Saints enter the weekend having won four of their last five, including three wins against Sunshine State Conference competition.
